ZDHHC11 is identified as a critical palmitoyltransferase that plays a protective role in osteoarthritis (OA) by preventing chondrocyte senescence and promoting cartilage anabolism. The study demonstrates that ZDHHC11 expression is downregulated in OA, and its restoration can ameliorate OA symptoms. A novel lipid nanoparticle-based delivery system for Zdhhc11 mRNA is proposed, showing promise for targeted therapy in OA treatment. This research highlights the potential of ZDHHC11 as a therapeutic target, addressing a significant unmet need in OA management.
